Does this upload my images to do OCR?
No. The OCR runs in your browser using WebAssembly, so your images — including sensitive documents and receipts — never leave your device.
Why is the first run slow?
The first time you use it, your browser downloads the OCR engine and your chosen language model (a few megabytes). After that it's cached and much faster, and works offline.
What gives the best results?
Clear, high-contrast, upright text. Crop to the text, and choose the matching language. Tiny, skewed or low-contrast text is harder to read accurately.
